Pah Rah Range Section
This section hikes into the Pah Rah Range starting the Truckee River and ending in Spanish Springs Nevada. This is the driest section of trail.
Truckee River to Dry Lakes
From the Truck River at Lockwood Neveda the hike once again crosses highway 80 via Canyon Way and into the Granite Construction Co Quarry. A public road into the Pah Range Runs through the quarry to the left and up towards Rocky Peak. Past Rocky Peak continue hiking the road North, North-East for approximately 6.5 miles. You will arrive in Dry Lakes. There is not usually water here. However, the site is designated and protected as Pah Rah High Basin (Dry Lakes) Petroglyph District.
Dry Lakes to Spanish Springs
Continue hiking this road through Dry Lakes Valley to the power lines and the take the road to the left following the power lines up the cliff. Continue hiking this jeep trail up to the ridge-line. From here you should see Spanish Springs and La Posada Drive. Hike down the jeep trail to La Posada Drive and into Spanish Springs. The area at Pyramid Way and La Posada has a super market and resturants and is the place to get water for the next stretch of the hike across the Juntion House Range. Continue across Pyramid Way onto Eagle Cayon Drive. Take a left on Richard Springs Boulevard and past the school. Take the jeep trail behind the school into the Junction House Range.
